Daffodil plant

“Narcissus” or better known as “Daffodil” is a plant bearing beautiful flowers used for decorative purposes. The Daffodil is the National flower of Wales. Daffodils are found in a wide range of colours and varieties with each specie having its own individual characteristic and standing out tall and beautiful with its lovely flowers speaking volumes for it.

A Daffodil flower is made up of six petals. The Daffodil plant grows to a height of 14 to 20 inches. The best time for planting daffodils is during the fall season.

The Daffodil plant is a very easy to grow plant which does not require much care. The Daffodil plant requires well drained, loosely packed soil with ample water and fertilizers at regular intervals for a healthy plant, which would produce attractive large blooms. Proper spacing should be ensured between the individual plants, although for the Daffodil effect they must be planted in large groups. For the bulbs of the daffodil plant to grow well it requires a lot of moisture and must be planted deep inside the soil.

The Daffodil plant generally flowers in the later part of winter or early spring. It is important to divide the daffodils every 5 to 6 years in order to enjoy regular beautiful blooms. Do not remove the yellow leaves of the Daffodil plant, for this foliage is an important source of nutrients and minerals for the new plants to come and is an important source providing nourishment to the bulbs in the soil.
