Pine Trees

No variety of trees has been as popular as Pine tree. Over the years Pine trees have been widely used as ornamental trees.

The Pine trees belong to the family of coniferous trees. The trees have been commercially important. The reason is apparent as the timber of the pines is one of the most valued.

There are various factors that distinguish Pine trees from other trees. To begin with these trees have seeds that are uncovered and pairing is done in bearing. There are two major groups in which the pines are generally classified namely the Pinus and the Strobus. The Strobus are the white pines and the Pinus are the yellow pines. However there is another category that is intermediate is Ducampopinus. The Pines are generally found in regions that are temperate or tropical. The requirement for proper growth of the pine comprises of soil that is acidic in nature and in which the drainage is proper.

The trunk of the pine trees is generally straight, whereas the whorls are that of smaller branches. It is because of similar factors that the pine trees look comparatively longer. Another fact remains that the pines also grow as prostrate shrub or narrow trees and even small bushy trees.

The pine trees are monoecious in nature which means that both the female and the male reproductive organs are found within the same trees, the female organs lays bears the ovules and the male organs shed the pollens.
