The Cactus, which is indigenous to North and South America, is an interesting plant. This is because it thrives in very hot, dry climates. Unlike most plants, the cactus only needs a little bit of precipitation to get through the heat. It survives by efficiently using and saving their water supply. It has been said that some cacti hold enough water to nourish someone stranded in the desert for a time or two. This, of course, depends on the size of the cactus. Some cacti get up to sixty feet in height, which could probably quench the thirst of and entire family, while others only grow to less than an inch tall.
The water supply allows some cacti grow the cactus flower. The flowers shoot up out of the Cactus spikes into full bloom. Cactus flowers are large. There usually have many petals and numerous stamens. They come is all types of shapes and colors. Among these colors are yellow, white, red, and pink. These flowers are usually vibrant, exotic, and/or beautiful. Also, these flowers are accompanied by leaves, or bracts. Many people don’t view cacti as leafed plants but they are wrong. They don’t look like the leaf on the Canadian flag but the cactus leaf exists. Cactus flowers are usually found in the wild but some people have brought the wild into their homes, and they’re easy to maintain.
