How to grow corn

Corn is one of the most widely consumed and tastiest vegetables available. Corn contains sugar at its core, which can starch very rapidly thus giving wonderful taste when boiled. For its very typical nature of internal system, it needs tailor made growth process such as hot weather, ample time period from seeding to ripe stage and optimum space for production.

Corn can be grown during any time of the year, under direct sunlight. The soil must be protein rich, properly drained and moist. Some important ingredients which should be used during the process are corn seeds, fertilizers, emulsions, spades, mulch pinwheels and plants.

The corn seeds are planted in rows, preferably 1 inch or so deep. Inter row distance should be maintained at 4-6”. Corn is not very good transplanting, so proper conditions should be strictly ensured for that. When the seeding is relatively smaller, transplant can be carried out; and it shouldn’t be done during broad daylight. During early times, corns must be well weeded.

The pollination of corn takes place through wind only, so the corn plants must be properly spaced from each other. Cold soil can rupture proper growth. Taking the above factors into consideration, the land of production must have deep, moist and proper drainage aiding soil, having good optimum temperature. Fertilizers and pests can be sprinkled if required.

During the flowering process of the plants, water must be supplied aplenty. And during the swelling period, proper fertilization must be applied to the corn plants. The harvesting time for corn can be decided by checking the silks, and care must be taken as improper harvesting can damage the entire plant. It is however advisable that corn should be consumed rather fresh and out of the land, than later.
