The growth of plants has been a topic of research from the earliest of times. A lot of science has gone in to the topic and a lot of it has been useful information to all of human kind and helped us understand the concepts of nature better.
Plants grow from seeds. A seed is produced from the flower of the parent plant. The blossom, containing the seed consists of the male and the female parts. Seeds are just like the egg packed with nutrition for the incubation period to the dormant plant. Once the conditions for growth are right the ripe and ready plant springs to life. The conditions that are most important to facilitate the growth of a plant are heat, light, temperature conditions and soil moisture. Most plants have roots which grow in to the soil and provide the plant with a steady base and a fine way to gain nutrition from the soil.
Plants have various intricate means of survival in the big bad natural wild world. The process of photo synthesis is one of the basic means. The sun light falling on the leaf of a plant helps it to make food for itself. The green leaves are filled with a green colored pigment called chlorophyll which acts as an important catalyst in this food making process. The outcome of the process of photo synthesis is the oxygen that the plants release as well. The water taken in from the roots is also important in this process of photo synthesis.
All these ingredients react chemically inside the leaf of the plant and help it grow.
