Sunflowers are in fact very easy to grow and needs very little measurements than growing other flowering plants. If you have set up your mind to grow sunflowers in your own garden then you need to follow several things. Firstly make sue of the variety of sunflower you need to grow. It is a common case that people choose all varieties of this flower and grow them simultaneously in their gardens. However you can also grow a single variety. There are varieties like Italian White which are about 4 ft. tall and are creamy colored flowers. The Music Box is the dwarf variant of sunflowers whose petals are creamy yellowish. The Autumn Mix is a bit taller of about 6 ft and their colors are rusty deep and yellowish. There are other taller varieties than this and they grow up to a height of about 10-15 ft.
So when you have decided the varieties collect their individual seeds and plant those 1 to 1½ inches deep inside the soil. Remember to plant the seeds in such a place where they are exposed maximum towards the sun. Be sure to plant the seeds 5-6 inches apart from one another. Add a little humus or peat to the soil to make it absolutely favorable for the growth of the sunflowers. Remember to water the soil regularly until the seeds germinate and little sunflowers pop out from them. The seedlings sprout and grow into fresh sunflowers in a maximum of one to two weeks. You will see that during this time birds and insects will try to harm the flowers. So you can add a net (that allows sunlight to enter) over the growing flowers so that it remains safe. You can also add thin fences near the sunflowers because they will need support to stand against the blowing winds. So now your sunflowers are ready to bloom!
